Simplest kit to get a young guy for xmas

Post by pantsmachine » Tue Oct 27, 2009 6:00 pm

Hello guys,

My nephew is getting on(17) and hard to buy for at xmas time. Thought i might get him a nice simple beer kit. Are there still just add water and wait 4 weeks kits out there? Don't want to spend a load on it in case he thinks 'nah' after trying one. Any pointers appreciated.

If you've got a spare FV and keg to loan him any kit would do.

Wilkinsons. £20 for the starter kit which includes the kit and fermenter and he merely needs a bag of sugar and the means to bottle or keg it (plastic pop bottles if needs be).

If you can spare an FV and some equipment then I would go for a Coopers kit. The lager is a nice kit and doesn't give off too much of the homebrew 'twang'. That is from my experience though.

10-12 2litre PET bottles will do the trick for bottling

Yeah, get the lad a Cooper's Aussie Lager kit, I cant see a 17yr old (LagerBoy) not liking that. I prefer to bottle it. Chilled down nice and cccccold its a pretty fine thirst quenching drink.
