Hi all just wanted to ask a question on carbonation.
I understand its personal taste but i'd like some input on how other carbonate there beers wether it be with a priming agent or co2.
if anyone uses a co2 setup and a reg i would be interested in psi settings and how long you hold the kegs at that pressure for also serving pressure.
Garth has gave me some useful info on this so thanks for that but would also like your views on this.
cheers kev
the right amount of carbonation
Re: the right amount of carbonation
With regard to priming and carbonating under pressure imo the end result is no different.
There are a few co2 vol/pressure/temp charts around to use as a guide. I prefer to carbonate and serve at the same pressure. I set 5-8psi at 13c after about a week or so the co2 will have gone into solution and the pressure stabilised. I find that gives a quite a lightly carbonated beer, 10-12psi at the same temp has a bit more sparkle.
