Hi All
Does anyone use 1Kw kettle element(s) in their homemade boilers? I have found a supplier who sells five 1Kw elements for £10. Will 1 Kw be powerfull enough to use in a boiler?

1Kw Kettle Element
Re: 1Kw Kettle Element
Personally, I wouldn't be persuaded.
My 3kw Burco merrily boils 23 litres. However, it can start to struggle on a really cold day (I boil outdoors). I would therefore have to question how much a 1kw element could cope with.
Secondly, each element requires a hole, and each hole weakens the bucket and heightens the possibility of leaks.
Thirdly, you can buy 2 cheap 2kw kettles for the same £10 and cannibalise these for more useful elements.
