element washers

Post by McKerral » Sun Nov 08, 2009 2:49 pm

Hi I am making a plastic boiler with 2.4kw elements from hop and grape, the elements come with 2 washers one soft white one and the other is hard and black. Does anyone know what way round they are meant to go?

If you check out the picture of the heater element I think that you should see the proper configuration of the 2 gaskets.

Either your eyesight is far better than mine or you are getting confused by the black and white parts at the rear of the element. the washers I am refering to are about 1mm thick

 My humble apologies I was apparently confused by the pictures appearance. However in general use I would think that the fiber would go on the outside and the rubber on the inside. It seems as though a lot of the lads on this forum use this style of boiler and I am sure that one of them will chime in [-o<
