I've just bought this exact pump:

What is the best type of hosing to use and do I need to buy anything else? How long is the cable for instance, or do I need to connect that myself?
Many thanks. Recirculating has just gotten easier...hopefully!

Re: Pump hosing
You can wire it up like this:
I use silicon hose and connect with brass Hozelock type connectors that have a 1/2" bsp male connector. The bleed vale shown here is not
essential so 2 x 15mm JG equal elbows will do.
I didn't use the service valves or stem elbows that have shown on yours.

Cheers! Looks the part. Where did you get the 1/2" male connectors?
Re: Pump hosing
I got the brass conectors from another member on Jims, but they are available from garden centres and hardware stores. The have a 3/4" thread as standard for fitting to a tap but can be found with or fitted with 3/4" - 1/2" bushes. I've just taken this snap.
I used tap connectors before fitted with cornie post 'o'rings. The fit any 1/2"bsp thread, ball valve etc and just need a light hand tighten to seal.

Cool. Will wait until it arrives then head to B&Q to look at my possibilities. One other question: Are these pumps suitable for racking beer from a primary fermenter to a secondary glass fermenter or would the risk of infection be high?
Cheers.
Cheers.
Re: Pump hosing
Clean after use (wort from tun-boiler) by circulating hot water. Before doing what you mentioned circulate sanitiser and you should be fine.
I would have thought there may be more risk of oxygenating the wort that way if the pump wasn't primed sufficiently prior to switching it on.

Yup, that makes sense. Will have to run a few tests.Scooby wrote:Clean after use (wort from tun-boiler) by circulating hot water. Before doing what you mentioned circulate sanitiser and you should be fine.

Cheers for the help.
