Gas Burner - Shroud
Gas Burner - Shroud
I'm sure I've read on Jim's that a shroud can increase the performance of a gas burner, as well as increase efficiency. The burner I am using, for 80 litres of wort, is this one:

First run out, it didn't really perform too well. I can't locate the relevant thread but would be grateful if anyone who has fabricated a shroud for their gas burner can give me the heads up on how they did it, cheers

I have one very similar to you.
A nice friend who I used to work with had three sheet steel rings made up for me.
Where the rings end is where the tap for the boiler slots in, they are about a foot and a half high so all the hot gases go up the side of the boiler as well.
It does boil quicker, and a breeze does not effect the burner much if at all now.
Before I had these I used to use bricks or some other kind of wind break not as good but easy to try.
I do have pictures at home if youa re interested!

I use aluminum foil. It's almost free and there is always an abundant supply.

I may try chicken wire and silver foil for a bit more strength.
