Halp! Dis- and Re-assembling drum taps

Post by Invalid Stout » Wed Dec 09, 2009 1:18 am

I feel pretty dumb at the moment. I disassembled a drum tap by prising the cap off and unscrewing the knob so I could give it a good clean. Now I can't figure out how to put it back together.

The twisting part of the tap will screw back in two positions, One position means that when you put the top back in place, the tap wont close.

Re-fit the tap, starting at a position 180 degrees from the wrong position and it will work. Add a spear of vaseline to the thread and the tap will operate a lot smoother.
