CO2 bottle and corny connector.

Post by Deebee » Wed Dec 23, 2009 8:41 am

Hi All.

At present i have a 9 liter corny and will be receiving another 11.4 liter over the new year.

For now i use one of the keg chargers and find that this works great on the smaller keg. i prime with sugar so this is enough for about half of it. i would estimate i then use about 1 whole cartridge for the rest of the keg.

i also use about a cartridge for purging and setting some initial pressure on in the keg after i tap from the FV.

One of the guys who i brew with ( sometimes)

He uses both a soda stream cartridge and a co2 fire extinguisher.

Now, the pressure guage here is a fortune ( way over 200 notes) but i have seen the pressure guages that come connected to the tyre inflators you can fit onto a house hold compressor. Would these work?

I can get a small CO 2 extinguisher for very little here and this will also give me the chance to get it filled with nitrogen and Co2 mix.

My questions are as follwos and if someone can help me i'll be really appreciative.

1 can i use the tyre pressure guage connected to a hose into the extinguisher.

2 would i use a bulk standar gas inn opst on the end to fit to the corny and could i use some of the pipe supplied by norm and the John guest fittings for this.?

The mini sharger would be rgreat for taking the keg to the beach and cabin where i would't want the extinguisher with me.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks
Dave

Have a look at this, not sure it's what your after but this was a small C02 welding cylinder, the small reg that goes on them and a foot pump (Car) gauge. Pictures have since gone. :(

I'm not sure about the extinguisher thing though.

If you can lay your hands on an old sodastream i reckon they could be adapted.

Hope this is of some help 8)
