My brewery system... Noob in progress

Post by dhalse001 » Mon Dec 28, 2009 11:30 pm

Hi all,

I thought I should share my efforts since I get a lot from this forum. I'm based in Orpington (SE but inside M25), and there appears to be no local homebrew club or no local homebrew shop near me. I don't know the rules here or what's easiest, so here's a link to my pics - which saves space here and well, if you can be bothered there's nothing personal on my site so have a look!

**** [EDIT - I've put them on Flickr] ****

Most of it is 40x40x3 angle iron, and I've tried to go stainless where it's important.

I've found it incredibly hard to source items from within the UK, and then when I did have the option (rare), it was incredibly expensive! I've purchased from the UK where I could, but often I bought from NorthernBrewer or MoreBeer, including the counterflow wort chiller, the gas burners and taps, weldless stainless kits, false bottom, thermometers, spinning stainless sparge, quick disconnects, silicon tube etc. I also got the perlicks (525's and 575) from the US and the grain crusher and hopper too.

I actually tried to source Blichmann from within the UK, but there was no service, and I ended up contacting Mr Blichmann himself (who was very prompt and helpful), but again only to give up on sourcing Blichmann from the UK.

That aside, I've got two beers fermenting, which have (or at least I believe so!) gone wrong, and I've had to modify it since as the burners get too hot and heat everything a little hot.

The mrs is pi**ed off too as the kitchen table has been a workshop for many months and I owe her a few (x10) weekends and chores. It's cost loads of cash but a man must have a hobby right?

Cheers,
Dave.

Hi Dave your Facebook link doesn't show any pics, just your profile with the standard F'book text "Dave only shares some of his Profile information with everyone. If you know Dave, send him a message or add him as a friend."

I guess your F'book security settings don't allow Joe public to see your pics.
Dan!

Its got to be one of the better hobbies to have :)

Get yourself a Flickr account and put your pictures there, I bet I'm not the only forum member with an aversion to all things Facebook :)

Hmm I didn't think my Facebook had security? Ok.

I'll set up Flickr tonight and repost.

Thanks,
Dave.

Sorry Old boys! Facebook is new technology that younger people use to spy on old-friends while sitting at home by ourselves drinking beer... .

Anyway - wasn't aware of the Flickr link - thanks for that - so I've posted most of the photos on the Flickr site:

Regards,
Dave.
