Little Help
Little Help
This let me down today. 2.2kW kettle element gasket on exterior of boiler. Dunno what it's made of, feels like a compressed fibre material.
Do you know what they're made of, & is it just a case of going to B&Q for a new one or are they harder to come by?
Thanks.

Hi SiHoltye
I use a converted stockpot for a boiler with a 2.2KW element from a cheap Tesco's kettle. To seal the element I used a fibre washer purchased from B&Q. I'm not sure what your gasket is made of but a fibre washer should do the job. Picture below shows the blue fibre washer

Re: Little Help
Maybe cut one from bicycle inner tube? I did that to fix a 1970's shower back in about 1990. Shower lasted until 2009 and it wasn't the inner tube that had failed.
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget

Crawley B&Q didn't have them big enough. Have gone begging to Patsy for now Sure she'll help if she can 'cos they're nice people at Hop and Grape. (+ I order mainly from them).

Si,
If you're in Crawley again you know the ScrewFix is only a mile or so from B&Q? They will sell you fibre washers. If you don't mind buying about 400 for £3 rather than about 4 for £1 in B&Q
