Hydrometers

Ever since I smashed my old beer hydrometer (range 1000-1080) I've been looking for a replacement that doesn't cost the earth yet deals with the normal range of beer gravities.I find the combined wine/beer ones have too wide a scaleThe one I've found is from Stevenson Reeves direct(01314457151) Range 1000-1060 and costs £6 + vat.I've just bought a dozen for the MCBA so we split the postage. The guy I spoke to says he can't sell them to the homebrew shops because they are too expensive.Apparently the shops (including Youngs who distribute through chemists ) think £3 is enough.Just thought you would like to know

I used to have one those myself and it was great. Really easy to get an accurate reading; then I went and broke it! Just about to buy another one from the same people as you.
If I had all the money I'd spent on brewing... I'd spend it on brewing!
