Hop&Grape hop filter modification
Hop&Grape hop filter modification
After getting a very annoying stuck runoff from the boil yesterday, I have modified my Hop and Grape hop filter manifold to try and prevent the problem recurring. Picture below shows I have drilled two 3mm holes between each of the slits in the pipe.
I hope this improves runoff and stops clogging and does not let particle matter through.

Re: Hop&Grape hop filter modification
if that dosen't work, try drilling more 3mm holes in the top as well, I did this to mine and it improved things greatly.
Re: Hop&Grape hop filter modification
I thought the holes were supposed to be on the bottom to stop particles getting through. But if holes on top works for you then I will try that next if it keeps getting stuck..

I was advised to do and did exactly what you have done and it works a treat!

I'm going to try this. I've done three brews with my H&G boiler and have had to take out the auto siphon each time.

The holes are on the bottom. The hop filter is turned upside down in the picture.macca wrote:I thought the holes were supposed to be on the bottom to stop particles getting through. But if holes on top works for you then I will try that next if it keeps getting stuck..

Just wrap it in a coarse muslin bag, you will never have a problem again. Been using mine like this for years, as fast a run off as you like every time.Paulie wrote:I'm going to try this. I've done three brews with my H&G boiler and have had to take out the auto siphon each time.
