Hi there, I'm from Dundee too and have been looking for a c02 bottle for the best part of a year now. I do all grain beer and bottle all my brews which is fine until I got to wait a few weeks for them carbing! I have a corny keg and fittings, so just really waiting to get my hands on a c02 bottle and then buy a regulator to fit. One place I tried was priced at £95 hire for the year and includes refills when empty. Is this expensive? I do plan to keg beer, but also bottle too..so not sure I will be using loads of c02. Anyone any ideas? Thanks

Hobbyweld also supply 'food grade' co2. Looks like a couple of local suppliers to Dundee. I've got a bottle from Elgin, they deliver down to Aberdeen and drop it off at the airport for me at work, and take away my empty.

Hi

I use BOC in Bridge of Don. I'm sure it's not the cheapest but it's hassle free.
£3.60/month cylinder rental and £26.58 for a refill. That's a size B cylinder which is your standard pub one.

Cheers.

Cheers Jambo. How long does a cylinder that size last you usually? I'm looking into getting a couple of corny's so don't have a point if reference yet.

Hard to say, I drink much less than I used to and obviously that's the main variable! I'd say I definitely don't use more than two per year.

I have 1-2 more cornies than I need if you decide to go for it.

Once I've got some gas sorted I'll drop you a line then, I'm definitely interested in those cornies

In the end I got my co2 from one of several hobbyweld agents in aberdeenshire, paid £90 up front for a 6.3kg cannister. Future refills should be £30.

Has nobody approached their local pub/bar and asked if they can tag onto their order? Get mine of a friend for £6 or £8 for nitro. One of the local breweries do it for around £15.

For anyone else who is looking for gas, Adams gas charges £55 for the bottle then £24 for a fill for a pub size co2, £36 for nitro/nitro 70/30

Boc = £3.10 a month ex vat for bottle co2 £3.40 ex vat. to fill its £22.95 co2 and £27-10 70/30 nitro ex vat

When I was first looking for gas I phoned up BOC in bridge of don and they told me they couldn't give me any because it was for businesses only and not for home use.🤔
