How to fit a regulator to the new sodastream bottles

Post by macca » Tue Nov 29, 2011 10:25 pm

I have fitted a regulator to the new style sodastream bottle for dispensing from cornies.
The problem with the widget world system etc is that you cant apply a constant pressure for dipensing like I can with my pub gas bottle and regulator. But the pub bottle is not easily taken to a party etc. So after a lot of searching I found this:

It fits the new style thread on the 60L aluminium sodastream bottles and the regulator attaches to the other end. It works perfectly.

I did originally buy another adapter from a UK company which was milled from aluminium but it was poorly manufactured and leaked gas. When I emailed the company about the problem, they accused me of damaging it. So found this instead and German engineering seems to be the way to go.

Hope it's of interest.

Ah, very handy indeed. I may need to get one of them for New Years Eve :)

wow! very impressive, a full Co2 system but in miniature, ive only got the old style bottles and i only use them occaisionally but that looks great.
ita worth buying the new style bottle just for that set up!
Reminds me of when tesco use to sell the old style refills at £3.00 each and the dozy checkout girls didd'nt realise that was for a swap and not an outright purchase!!!!
i managed to buy about 5 or 6 before they ran out!

With the gas setup being this small, I plan to get hold of a round ice coolbox that will just fit my baby corny and the sodastream bottle/reg inside. I can then fit a kegerator tap through the wall of the coolbox for a party keg setup that just dispenses cold beer without having to faff about squirting gas in.

Looks good, but I may have to wait until the Euro self-destructs before I can afford one.

They also do a sodasteam to 1/4" BSP converter for 10 EURO less if you have a spare regulator. It should be able to be used to replace the standard inlet on the regulator.
