My boiler element started smoking after just starting AG46 today.
Ex tea-urn. Buffalo 27L boiler. 3Kw. Model J520. I got it second hand in July 2010.
There was an odd smell then small amount of smoke started to issue from base of boiler while I was using boiler for cereal mash at only 40C
It looks like some mash leaked down side of element and burned there.

I've cleaned it all up and I'm wondering if I can (temporarily) refit element using some sealant between element and rubber gasget.
It looked like there was a putty / thermal paste between gasket and element.
I was thinking of using Fernox LSX? Would that be OK?
Looking at Fernox LS-X website
