cheap solar pump copy thing.

Post by brodington » Sun Dec 30, 2012 10:31 am

Hi all,

I just purchased one of these so I can make a basic hopback.

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewit ... 0856205238

Can anyone tell me what the thread sizes are so that I can buy some bits?

The diagram doesn't seem to match the photos..

Thanks,

Neil

See topicSolar Pump Question
However I would wait until I got delivery of pump in case threads not 1/2 inch bsp like on original solar pump.

There was another topic about this version too. See Cheap Solar Pump ?

Thanks jmc.

Hoped it would be 1/2. Might wait just to be sure.

I am planning to use a 12v adapter to run it (same one i use for my stir plate),
Do i just put a ball valve on the out let to slow the flow?

Thanks again.

Your planned set up should be fine, but I agree I'd wait to see what you actually get.
I'd put valve / restiction on outlet rather than inlet as you suggest.

An alternative to restricting with a valve, is to use a voltage adapter with a variable output.
I use an ancient train controller for my pump & stir plate.

I use the same jack connectors on stirplate and pump so I can use the same controller on both of them.

use these 12V MF power jack connectors.

I saw these Brass 1/2" Bsp Garden Hose Tap Connectors for 2.96 each
If pump has 1/2" bsp then they might be useful.

(1/2 ID silicon slips on hose tap connectors very well.)

I wish I knew. Hate the fact it's cheaper to buy and import things from China.
