The Bread Maker

Post by barneey » Thu Oct 24, 2013 10:10 am

I`m still working on this project, but thought I would at least post a photo to wet the appetite, still holes to cut / waiting for another tube to be made etc...... but the donor pot seem ideal at the moment. :) if it doesn't fit the purpose a 38.5 thermo pot will have to be sourced.

This isn't exactly what I imagined when you said bread maker.

 Yep just dont mention the other word please within this thread, although I`m only making this for myself & posting the idea. The build itself is very simple , the difficult work already being done with the internal tube - everything else is made with standard BES or ASAP fittings readily available to everyone.

The basical elcheapo version will rely soley on a built in thermostat and manual control of timing but with a simple PID and timer it could be automated easily. This build also lets me test the readily available pumps.

I must also mention Matho made an actual control box to control his build, so someone with electronic skill might want that route V the PID route V the manual route.

Another cracking build this. Come the apocalypse someone needs to protect Barneey, that way there will be someone to rebuild the brewing industry.

I fancied building something like this for a better controlled system, however considering I destroyed the fuse box in our house (twice) putting my modified keg together I doubt I'll get around to it.

Ha but the beauty of this build (if it works) all that is needed DIY wise is the ability to drill 5 holes in a piece of stainless - no wiring or other DIY skills required :).

IF it works someone (not me) could just simply produce the stem & central tube + 16mm hole cutter + maybe a pump and you build your own pot. All those electronic guys could then if wanted build a programmer for it BUT as it is the basic version is very simple.

Loving the optimistic use of 'simply' :)

I had been on a flight of fancy making something similar (or a 2 tier) using gastronorm pans instead of pots but got bogged down with the realism that i'd build a death trap. I hope this turns out well as it would be an excellent single vessel setup.

I have an army of loyal nuke-hardened cockroaches briefed and ready to scuttle off to Kent should the need arise.
