Thermopot with taps

Post by laithclark » Wed Feb 22, 2017 8:08 pm

Has anyone bought/got a Bergland thermopot that comes with the tap?

I am considering buying one to add my own tap and bazooka filter but wondered if that is possible as I also don't know how high up the pot the tap is

Any thoughts gratefully received

Thanks
Laith

Yeh, I got the 70Lt with a tap. But at the time,I read don't bother with a tap, as you will want to add your own. And Yeh, I did. add my own, as the silly thing that came was a wast of space.. So with the Qmax cutter and a ball valve that I brought , I could have saved around £10. As that was the price difference without there tap

Also.... If I had brought pot without tap... Then I should have fitted the tap to a off centred bottom drain,, so as to tilt it less loss. but that's my thinkins.

Hope this helps...
Cheers

I just replaced the tap with a ball-valve. On the inside, I connected up the grain filter with some silicon tube. The height of the tap doesn't really matter if you get a syphon going.

the bottom drain mod isnt that tricky as long as you have access to the right tools.

the SS skins of the inner pot and the base are significantly thinner than the stock pots, and are easily punctured with a sharp punch encouraged with a tap from a hammer ;)

the trickiest bit is grinding down fittings to fit within the base void and seal for which a belt sander is a very handy tool ;)

but its not the only solution ;)
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(
