Ambiano Induction Hob.......

Post by WalesAles » Tue Apr 18, 2017 2:01 pm

Anyone got one of these?
Are they any good?

Would it be any good for a 19Lt Brew?
Would it be a Good Buy or a Goodbye? :D

Iam not familiar with this hob but 2kw might take a while to get 19L to a boil. But if you insulated the stock pot it should help.

I bought one for camping a while ago. It brings a large pan of water to the boil in under 5 mins. It would be fine for brewing but the only consideration is can it take the weight?

Brewedout,
The Hob can take 40kg in weight.
19Lts weighs 19Kg, so OK there.

New Shiny 19Lt pot to be sourced.
My current one is Aluminium and will not work on an Induction Hob! #-o
Would it work if I put a thin disc of steel on the Hob and the Aluminium pot on the steel?

That's great, looks like I have a heater for smaller brews. I don't know about the thin disc, I've had the same thought myself in the past.

Hi WA, sorry to jump in on your thread, but does anyone know if I can use this to complement my 50l ss kettle that is fitted with as single heating element? I need something to help me get a stronger rolling boil for when outside, and as my mate with a hole cutter isn't around this seems like a potential move.

Thanks

P.s. I never have more than 32l in my kettle so should be OK with the weight.

I'd go for better insulation , and maybe element before adding a second heat source

Thanks Hayden, I have a spare Hot Water Tank Jacket, so might try that first.

Yes but not as well, you can buy such discs from eBay, Amazon etc.

You'll need something the right size though.

just thinking aloud here .. but if you were to get such a disc and sit it inside the pot instead of under wouldnt it be more effective?? or would the larger gap between hob and plate work against you??

Fil,
The Hob won`t take Aluminium.
The Steel disc would have to go between Hob and Pot.
