Stainless Mesh and a QMax cutter?

Post by aamcle » Tue Apr 25, 2017 10:14 am

i want a hole in some 20# stainless, do you know if my QMax cutter will work? I don't have enough mesh to want to risk mangling it so I though I'd ask first.

Thanks. aamcle

I have some of them although I really can't remember why the SS mash would laugh at them. :) :)

I'd use some wire cutters or possibly a dremel for that. A Q-max would likely pull the mesh wires and distort it, unless it is welded (rather than just woven) mesh.

i would use wire snips ping each wire in turn, attempting 2x or more strands will probably tug on the weave and set you up for a wobble later, it will be a pita but will get the job done cleanly

One way it might work is if you have a thin plate top and bottom which might support it, and go through all three layes with the QMax. . . . But I still think it wouldn't work
