Venting quetion.

Post by Midlife » Sun May 07, 2017 7:18 pm

Hello, I am going to get a SS bucket fermenter, there is an option for a blow off barb and silicone tubing for the lid? I tend to use a bung and bubble trap. Anyone know how this blow off barb and tubing set up works? Not keen on venting to atmosphere I would rather use a water/bubble trap.

Cheers.

simply get a bottle and half fill with water for your airtrap, and drop the free end of the blow off tube in the bottle neck below the water level.

the co2 will now blow off through the tube and bubble up through the water in the bottle creating an airtrap.

or cap the blow off tube barb with a bit of sanitised tin foil and forget the tube.. it will stop anything dropping in and the continual flow of co2 out will prevent anything 'floating' in.

No problem posting links to equipment you have bought are considering buying etc, blatant bullsh*te advertising might get frowned upon, but telling us about something you like dislike or even highly reccomend is a-ok..

check out the malt miller for ss brewbuckets ;)
