Actual capacity of '100L' Bergland stock pot?

Post by Kev888 » Sat Jul 01, 2017 9:43 am

I've an old Bergland stock pot, these are often sold nominally as 100L or more precisely as 98L. But I've just measured mine, and it is coming out as about 95L to the rim.

Though this could easily be my inaccuracy. Before I repeat everything more carefully, has anyone else on here tested the actual volume?

Measured mine and it is 95 litres. Wonder if they have included the volume within the domed lid.

quite likely, as if it's useable?!
conversely, i've got a pot with an inverted lid and i'm damn sure they never subtracted that from the advertised volume.. !

Excellent, many thanks, Eric!

I suppose they may have included lid volume. It is/was common practice with cool boxes, since they don't always hold liquid, the space can be considered usable. I've not run across it with pans before, but either way this will teach me to measure rather than assume.
