DIY bottle washer
DIY bottle washer
Stumbled upon this post a few weeks back
http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... =2&t=43098
Thought it seemed like a great idea and have since been getting my shopping lost together to have a go at building one myself. I especially like how it can easily be moved between buckets for cleaning rinsing and sanitizing bottles.
Not the cheapest of projects as there's quite a bit of copper to buy along with a decent sump pump.
Has anyone here had a go at building something similar? Just after any tips or advice that may help.

Re: DIY bottle washer
What pumps did you use and how do you find the pressure.
Not sure whether to keep it all 15mm or feed with 22.
Not decided if to use 10mm or holes cut in 15mm end caps for the bits that go inside the bottle.

Re: DIY bottle washer
I bought a 1100w sump pump off eBay, I think it delivers 200l / Min. I think needs some 22mm to keep flow rate. We used 10mm because we could pinch the top and saved need caps on each pipe.

Re: DIY bottle washer
I think the build linked to used copper simply as he would be using an ethanol wash for spirit bottles.. for a water/cleaning solution version for beer bottles im sure cheaper plastic tube and solvent weld fittings could be employed..
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate

Priced it up to around £100 in total for all the copper pipe/fittings and 1100w pump and hose/fittings.
I've not priced up plastic yet as I thought copper would be more appropriate
It's a bit more than I was hoping to spend yet it's still cheaper than the only commercially available item of its kind that I can find in the UK, marks bottle washer(£130) which looks rather flimsy with a tiny pump.

Nothing new. It's just another version of the Ken Shales "Rinsemaster"

Haha IPA. Just ordered a copy for £3 so I can brew like it's 1967. It can sit next to my copy of 'Brewing Beers Like Those You Buy'
