Heating element rust..

Post by thatflookguy » Tue Sep 05, 2017 7:28 am

Hi all, got a new setup to make smaller batches and after a couple of test brews I've found the base of my heating elements have started to rust. In the HLT and BK. beer being made in here is only going to be a sample taster. Still ok to use or is this unsafe to consume?

Thanks, Lee

grab some bar keepers friend and scrub off the rust with it, iirc it should re-pacify the SS. while not ideal a little iron oxide shouldn't impair the brew you have and wont be harmfull.

if bought for purpose i would ask for replacement elements or money back, if you bought kettle elements and repurposed fingers crossed for the BKF ;)
ist update for months n months..

I have SS ripple elements in my 100l setup and currently using a smaller setup ATM for certain reasons. Will give them a scrub and go from there. Just did want it to be harmful if consumed.
