Buffalo induction - max brewlength it could handle?
Buffalo induction - max brewlength it could handle?
Been meaning to get an answer on this after reading and watching quite a few vid
I've seen 50l pots mentioned - I take it the 15g brewtech kettle would fit on with a bit of overhang?
and would an induction hob have enough welly to boil enough wort for two cornies worth - so say 47l at a rough number accounting for evap etc?

Depends on the wattage of the unit, but they are very efficient at putting heat into proper pots

I've done a 45L boil in a brewbuilder 50L pot with no problems. I've insulated the pot with a camping mat, but don't think this would be essential.

I use a 15g Brewtech kettle (insulated with thermawrap) on my buffalo, the overhang isn't a problem for the hob. I brew 5g batches which means I am usually boiling 32L of wort without a problem. The boil doesn't tend to be over vigorous so I'm not sure you would get a good vigorous boil with 47L, I'm sure it would boil but maybe more gentle than vigorous.

Do the camping mats/thermawrap melt into the kettle at full boil?
Looking to do some insulation myself

Thermawrap certainly doesn't melt, I wrap it round twice and add a couple of straps to keep it in place. I found Homebase was the best place to buy it from.

I did a bunch of research and it looked as though Armaflex sheets were the best (and most expensive option) but so many folk were using the foil backed camping wraps that I figured they were safe bet.
I spent £2.99 a year ago and haven't had an issue - no sign of any heat effects.
The boil is definitely faster and more vigorous.

My FV Has an exterior cooling coil, and it used armaflex.
For my mash, I am happy enough to spend £2.99

I use the SS BrewTech 20 gallon (75 litre) pot on mine without issue, other than it looking a bit daft
