Having already got a 70 litre boiler from Powell which I'm delighted with, I'm about to purchase one of the above with a false bottom. I'd be very interested to hear people's experience and advice with either with particular note to how well they hold the mash temp. Also which sparge method do you use?
Thanks in advance

Powell Brewing Mash Tun vs Thermo Pot
Re: Powell Brewing Mash Tun vs Thermo Pot
I bought my old 3v system from Powell brewing, I went for the thermopot and was happy with it, the most I ever lost was about 2 degrees C. I always batch sparged and was happy with the results.

A thermopot tun is the bees knees.. They do soak up preheating and a slightly higher strike temp may also be necessary but once you have learnt its features you wont look back..
The DIY build may appear a lil daunting to begin with but its a doddle with the right tools, get a quote from an ebay.fr seller of thermopots for price and delivery quote (generally cheaper than the ebay.fr price too)
If at all diy inclined i would suggest its a very worthwhile and rewarding project.
