Is this element worth a try?

Post by patwestlake » Thu Apr 05, 2018 11:30 pm

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heating-Elem ... 1438.l2649

looks ok; long element length gives lwd if not ulwd. Stainless construction and not too large a hole to cut. Anyone tried one?

Could be ;) at 4.5kw tho you will need at least a 16a circuit and plug/socket to provide power, and what about its back end and enclosing the electrical contacts..

Crucially tho no sign of an earth connector, so you would need to earth it and or your pot to avoid a quick death in the circumstance of a failure.

some chinese imports claiming to be SS often are not or have non SS aspects.. the one that caught me a while back was SS pt100 probes, well the sheaf was ss but the retaining nuts and threaded body would rust at the mere hint of water..

the stock pictures look ok tho.
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

Hmmm. Missed the lack of earthing. Cover was going to be a fabrication, but on closer inspection it's a non-starter. Back to Brewbuilder then?!

Maybe something like this, has the element shroud

Look what I found on AliExpress
http://s.aliexpress.com/AFb2uM7Z

I got a brewpod element cover from brewhardware in the us and a 3 kw element on eBay

The brewpod has an earth connection
