I plan to sit it on the 15mm pipe that supports my hop filters so should be well belpw

Hm. Not sure about that. When I used to deliver my wort to the bottom of the kettle it seemed to have two effects. The first and worst of the two was when chilling. I noticed it took longer and realised that I was delivering chilled wort to the bottom of the kettle where my tap was drawing wort to be chilled. #-o By delivering it back to just under the surface it would speed things up. Second thing was it didn't seem to have as much whirlpool effect as delivering it back to the surface.
