Aha.. How do you control the heating & cooling of your brew?
I am using the Maxi for it's original purpose: just comercial beer cooling :D
The only heating I control is the barbecue :D

Bugger. Key word in this thread was beer not brew. Seems I missed that. 😂😂😂

In my defence I am trialling using this sort of thing for chilling fermentations.

That said, I still don't think it needs a digital stat.

Hi everyone.
Just here to post updates: I've replaced the fan and it came back to life! :D
Cold beer again!

Thanks everyone for your help.

On a sidenote question... when I'm pouring a beer I sometimes get pressure hicups. It starts pouring ok then it suddenly starts pouring foam and then continues pouring normally. What can it be? The gas pressure seems ok.

Excellent news. I bottle mainly.
Only thought is to make sure the line is the right temp and not too long.

Hi everyone.
I now have another problem.
After the fan replacement, the Maxi worked well until this weekend. Suddenly I got a smell coming from the machine like electronics burned. The machine keeps working but I noticed that now, when the fan stops (when the Maxi reachs the desired temperature) I get a complete silence. Before I always heard a background 'humm' like something was happening.
The problem is that I notice that although the first beer is properly cold...if I pour immediatly another it does not come so cold as the first one.

What can be the problem? The circulating pump? Does it affect temperature?

Thanks again.
It seems that the universe is preventing me from drinking beer :D

Regards

How's this going? Have you managed to sort it out?

Hi.

It seems that the problem is the circulation pump. The pump also acts as an agitator to keep the whole water bath cold.
I'm trying to get a new one.

Thanks!

The pump does act as the agitator, but there's a little propellor on the pump spindle so the agitator function continues if the pump is obstructed. I have the pump sending cooling water around the fermenter cooling jacket, and it is often not there (the cooling circuit is shut off). The agitator propellor is then entirely responsible for "agitating".

Yes, so check the spindle is straight and the plastic pump isn't jammed. Cautiously grease the spindle/shaft.
