Looks like you're having some fun BM
I'm in the process of getting some quotes for perforated ss at the moment, but I'm not liking what I'm hearing.
£198 for a 2m x 1m sheet of 304 ss, 1mm thick with 1mm holes, 60 deg pitch standard pattern.
It's actually quite resonable as you could get 18 (or more ?) x 30cm fb's out of it which is £11 per fb.
Im going to try getting one cut to size (44cm dia) tomorrow....we'll see

I have a 38cm square of that sort of material. I'm just trying to think how to convert to a FB. I would love to be able to cut a circle out of it and get it rolled/panel beaten ala the More Beer one, but I can't see that happening Another thought I've had is to make an octagonal shape and then fold under the edges (say 1.5cm) by 90 degrees, while a full width FB would be nice, I don't think it would be essential

4 brews later and no stuck mash so far
the only change from the picture is a JG connector from the pickup pipe to the outlet/ball valve in the wall of the mash tun.

Check out the beers we have for sale @ Mix Brewery

Because its actually 395 by 400mm, and over 560mm on the long axis, which means that it wont fit in the 44cm dia Tunbrewsters millionths wrote:if you have 38cm square why not a square one?
Although I do love Mix design, what I'm thinking is an hex/octagonal design to give me the maximum surface area in the Tun, and turn around 10-20 mm by 90º along the edges to give me a raised FB, what I may well do then is to add a mesh screen (Ala Hop Stopper) under that to help stop the fine particulates that manage to get through my current FB.
TBH I suspect that the Hop Stopper would do a more than adequate job on its own, I'm just not 100% convinced of it
