Fairy liquid to clean bottles
Fairy liquid to clean bottles
Is it ok to use fairy liquid in some hot watter and a bottle brush to clean bottles. Ive rinsed all bottles after use and its only had beer ive bought so wasnt yeast to rinse. Id get pbw if it was hard to get off but as theyre spotless it seems like a waste of money
I was thinking fairy liquid in sink good scrubb a good rinse starsam sprayed in and then on bottle tree while then setting up to bottle.

Make sure you rinse all the detergent off with clean water before leaving them to dry. Residual detergent will annihilate the head of your beer when poured.

Good God No!!
Generic Oxi Cleaner . . . 15 minute soak in a hot solution (two scoops in 10L of water at 50C) . . . Drain and rinse . . .job done. . . . If the labels don't come off in that time . . . bin the bottles and get some that use sensible glue
Star san for sanitising

PBW is the best cleaner of all in my opinion. It also costs a shit load, which is why people use oxi clean as it contains the main cleaning agent that PBW does, but misses some other bits which make it extra effective.

What Jocky Said.
I use PBW for heavy soiling, for bottles it's not required, and 'normal' Oxi works . . . I can also get the normal Oxi as part of the weekly shop, so it doesn't add to brewing costs

Cheap oxi clean from Poundstretcher is excellent.
Lidl also do one that is unperfumed but a little more expensive.
I use oxi clean for all sorts of jobs now. I also add a little to dishwasher as well as the dishwasher tablet and it really helps.

Don't let it soak too long if you have hard water, that way you don't get the film

One of the benefits of using PBW. Although you can make a very cheap cleaner by mixing sodium percabonate 2:1 with sodium metasilicate, which is almost as good as PBW, and doesn't leave deposits after longer soaks.ben9393 wrote:It leaves a horrible film that wont come off now ive tested it.......
