The BBC video was a real blast from the past. I did a quick search for the "Semplex" yeast that he was using, it seems as though they don't exist any more. Thanks for sharing the links.

I must admit, I usually think something similar (with swear words) when I crack open a homebrew!

My Dad brewed beer around the time of these videos and probably used very similar ingredients. I only remember him making wine when I was a teenager, but he did show me how to brew my first kit. I really wish I'd quizzed him more about it when I had the chance :(

Oddly enough, I've just googled "Semplex Yeast" and it's given me loads of links to sites about yeast infections and herpes! :D

Having watched the second video I think I can see where I am going wrong. I brew in a tee shirt and shorts whereas I should be wearing a collar, tie and Jacket preferably with a handkerchief in the breast pocket. [-X \:D/
