Re: how much
Without knowing your setup it is hard to give an answer. This article however may help.

Re: how much
If you're using dried yeast you don't need to aerate as the pack already contains everything the yeast needs to multiply in the early stages of fermentation..
If you're using liquid yeast you should aerate, but don't over-complicate matters; all you need is to give it a good whizzing with a plastic brewing paddle held in a drill chuck.

Actually meant the size/type of vessel, yeast type etc. you use for fermentation. But, yes, what Jim says.tickle wrote:I just have a 50 ltr brew pot on the stove top so its a biab system

Re: how much
Just do as I do, once in the FV, give it a good stir and then sprinkle on the yeast. Job done. Good luck for your first brew!

Re: how much
Then it doesn't need aerating but would benefit from rehydrating.tickle wrote: yeast is a dry one

Re: how much
Your question could be understood or misunderstood two ways.
Your yeast does not need aeration.
Your wort does need it.
The easiest way to go about it is to pour your wort from a decent hight into your FV,thus causing frothing and thus aeration.
Then,BEFORE you pitch/sprinkle your yeast, seal it up and shake it like it owes you money on payday.
Then just open her up again and chuck in your yeast.

I agree with badleebrewed.
I run from the cfc at a height to drop into the fv. This is my aeration and froths the wort.
Then I pitch re hydrated yeast if using dried.
