Yeast Starter Temperature?

Post by j444fog » Wed May 10, 2017 6:34 pm

I'm making a starter for WLP 830, for a lager, c1050 og. lager hopefully.
What temperature would you suggest I ferment the starter at, bearing in mind that when I ferment the lager it will be at 10c.
If I do the starter at 20c, will this transfer any off tastes into the lager?
Am I best off doing the starter at a low temperature to keep it consistent with the wort when I brew?
The aim is to brew at10c with a diacetyl rest from about 1020 aiming for as close to 1010 fg.
Thanks

Yeast will happily reproduce in a starter at higher temperature than what they'll make good beer at. Decant the starter liquid and pitch only the yeast.
Room temperature is fine.
I'm just here for the beer.

Thanks Rookie for the advice. I hoped that was the case, but had never been sure. 20c it is then.

30ish degrees is good for culturing yeast.
