Burtonizing question

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Burtonizing question

Post by jubby » Mon Aug 10, 2009 4:23 pm

As an experiment, I Burtonized my water for my attempt at Evil Twin using GW's water calculator. The only way I can do this is to boil the total quantity and rack off for use when cool (my water composition won't allow straight salt additions). After the water was boiled and racked, I checked the alkalinity which came out at 54mg/l CaCo3 so i added a bit of CRS to reduce it further to 27. Anybody know if there was any need to add the CRS, as the water calculator didn't list it??

Thanks for the info chris. I will Burtonize my water for my next Broadside attempt without CRS.
