(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Can anyone tell me because I am confused.

I have a stainless steel pot I inherited from my in-laws. It's made in India, seems a bit thin, and says "16 quarts" on the side.

My thicky question is: How many litres is this? And is it a good size for using in my brewing?

Cheers DaaB. I guess I'm going to just have to measure it anyway. Either of these a good size for boiling of wort?

Try saying "quart" 10 times in a row. It sounds funneee!!!!!!

For rough conversion if it's not critical just go 1 quart to 1 litre
In google search you can type "16 quart in litre" and it'll give you the answer.
15.14blahblahblah
It works for all sorts of other stuff as well.

When I was extract brewing, I always used half the amount of water that I needed for my final result. This way, when my boil had finished I was able to quickly cool the wort down by adding cold water.

I don't know whether or not this was detrimental to my beers, but they always tasted okay to me.
