Forgot chalk, should i extend mash?

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Forgot chalk, should i extend mash?

I lost track and forgot to put 0.36g of chalk into my mash.

I've chucked it in at the end but is it worth extending the mash a little to get the benefit of it?

No worries, the braumeister must have started ramping up the temp ready for the boil 82C So I'm guessing it's too late to extend the mash.

Will just have to see how it comes out.

It would have little effect if you put it in at the beginning as chalk won't dissolve and any reaction with it will just be on the outer molecules, binding them into an impervious coating one molecule deep.

Using a Braumeister you need less alkalinity in any case.
