I can confirm that this cycling boil isn't a problem. I have managed to make an all grain stout that tastes pretty good. (If I do say so myself). Gonna give it a couple of weeks in the barrel to carb up and then the drinking starts!

I had the same issued with a burco boiler - you need to defeat the heat sensor by bypassing it with porcelain connectors or replace the sensor with a 120 degree one ... its hassle but the harder you boiler the more junk you'll precipitate out of the wort.
That said all the beer i made with intermittent boiling tasted good, google no boil receipes too there's plenty! It just depends what your want to achieve in your boil for you beer.
