What's your thinking with the flaked barley?Bigbud78 wrote:Have not used Mosaic yet so picked some up, thinking of the below. Any thought ? It's the first time I've come up with a recipe, I realise it not revolutionary

Re: Mosaic Pale
Yes but will also add a little more body than you might want. I would use some torrified wheat instead, say 100g.Bigbud78 wrote:Was under the impression it would give good head retention

Re: Mosaic Pale
Another thought. Mosaic is a fabulous aroma hop so I would use another high alpha hop for your bittering charge and save the Mosaic. After a 60 minute boil no aroma is left. Chill down to circa 80c before your whirlpool addition, for the same reasons.

Oh ok, not going to have time to get any wheat in so might just ditch it. I have some northern brewer and Columbus I could use for bittering

Re: Mosaic Pale
Either but Columbus would be my choice, what are the respective AA%? I don't think you will miss the FB, I like Pale Ales to be crisp thirst quenchers, slightly on the dry side, FB would give a slight slickness to the palate, great in darker beers but distracting in a Pale.Bigbud78 wrote:Oh ok, not going to have time to get any wheat in so might just ditch it. Re: Mosaic Pale
Looks good. 10g is fine.
I've been bittering English pale ales for ages with only 10g of admiral (16.6%) and then all other hops at 10 min, 5 min or flameout.
I have some columbus and intend to do the same with chinook inside last 10 to American things up so read this with interest ☺
