Braumeister steam extraction...
Braumeister steam extraction...
Just wondering if you have created a tidy method of extracting your BM steam? Photos would be great. I'm planning to come up with a tidier solution than a fan and an open door!

Re: Braumeister steam extraction...
same here.. the neck is perfect for 4" extractor tubing
i added a fillport / viewing window to watch out for boilovers and easily add hops. not got round to actually switching the cap for a glass window yet, but as you can see it's been sunny and i've been brewing outside without extraction..

Thanks for the pics [THUMBS UP SIGN]With the aluminium piping do you use a fan to pull the steam out? I would need to go through an air brick vent or make a new hole in the wall.

I use the 4 inch flexi with an extractor fan. To work properly you need a small gap between the top of the BM and the bottom of the dome to give some airflow. Some people sit the dome on the malt tube stirrup. I have my dome suspended from a pulley, I can raise or lower the dome to add hops, stir or whatever. I usually boil with the lid on but partially open to maintain a good boil.

A fan isn't required, Brewedout. Steam power does all the work. I use oven gloves when I remove the dome for hop additions, etc.
Mashman, why do you need 'air flow'? The dome forms a seal with the BM unit.

I agree, a fan is not essential but I feel it provides a better extraction and reduces condensation. If a fan is used it is necessary to allow some air in under the dome to provide an air flow. It works well for me. I am sure you have seen the pics on the B M forum.
Jaroporter. I like that fillport, is it welded to the dome? More pics would be good

McMullan what are you using to hold the tubing onto the domestic?

Mashman I see your logic, perhaps an adjustable air inlet near the braumeister would adjust the suction effect of a fan and increase airflow without the need to lift the dome?

Actually, in that pic it's a standard jubilee clip, but they fail too easily. I now use a MIKALOR W2 Stainless Steel Hose Clamp (97-104mm). Ebay is a good source.Brewedout wrote:McMullan what are you using to hold the tubing onto the domestic?
