Brewed a bitter today. Would love to brew a top notch traditional session bitter and this is one attempt at it. So many pale and golden ales on the market these days it can be hard to find a decent bitter, especially up here in northeast Scotland.

Re: The Bitterest Pill
lookin good, fwiw the beername reminds me of my first attempt at an ag brew, during the panc and total confusion of the proceedings i picked up the larger bowls of remainder hops and dropped them into the kettle, took me a good 30 minutes to realise, i was then fishing out 60 something g of bittering hops that should have been 35g with a nylon seive and as it was my first brew i had no idea how much liquid hops would absorb and swell with .. the result was VERY bitter But i relished every last delicious drop..
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate

I can just imagine what it was like. Must have been funny to watch, but probably not for you. First brews are always nervy affairs. So much to remember. Like most things it becomes quite automatic after a few attempts. Good to hear the beer turned out ok though.

Hi,
That looks a good recipe, I agree been looking for a good bitter recipe myself.
I remember my 1st braumeister brew , forgot to put the top fine mesh in!
Grains everywhere! Drain out and reload!
Now it's like riding a bike (with a saddle!)

Racked this to polypin and bottles yesterday. FG 1.009. Added a hop tea with some EKG instead of the planned dry hop.
