Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
I read the first part of the enormous thread on homebrew talk to get an esp8266 running a BrewPi variant but that was a while ago, looks like things have got much cooler since then!

Brewpi-less is a thriving project HairyJaimie..
perhaps im too much of a luddite Chris, but i just dont see the benefit in replacing the simple web interface with yet another app of dodgy providence which will no doubt insist on accessing data and info well beyond its scope of interest, fones that run apps generally have browsers..

Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
I actually prefer brewpiless over brewpi, as it allows me to post to a thingspeak channel, meaning i can monitor temperatures from anywhere, via the internet.
Unless I've misunderstood the project, it isn't an app. Just an alternative web browser based interface for monitoring/controlling arduino/esp8266 based brewpi controllers.
It looks really easy to install to the pi and can flash the controllers from within the interface.
Seems like it may make getting brewpiless up and running a bit easier.
I do enjoy these little projects, it may not make any massive improvements over the several separate temp controllers I currently use, but if it can enable me to pull all this data I'm collecting into one interface then it's worth trying in my opinion.

Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
If you do take the jump and give this a go. Can you post some pics of the interface and let me know if it logs your data etc?
Cheers

Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
There are a series of videos on YouTube that show the interface and adding a controller etc

Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
I use Fermentrack. Once you have installed Raspbian on a Pi you only need to run 1 command to install Fermentrack. The setup is then completely automated, you can even flash the ESP from within Fermentrack.
Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
I can only find one video on YouTube which shows how to flash firmware.
Could you post an image of the main screen which shows devices and then the screen once a device is selected please.
How do you find it, does everything work as expected?

Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
Not at my PC right now but Fermentrack has its own website with all up to date info here: http://www.fermentrack.com
Everything works as expected. The device and sensor setup is very intuitive. Thorrak has done an amazing job!
Here is a screenshot off Google from a few months back. There have been changes since but the overall look is the same:

Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
Thanks.
Does it have like a homepage where all the separate controllers can be viewed on one page or do you have to select which device you want to view.
I'm hoping it is able to display all on one page, otherwise I'm not sure what advantage it gives other than the ease of setup
Currently I just have my controllers bookmarked e.g..
Fermenter on 192.168.1.2, secondary on 192.168.1.10 etc so easy enough to switch between them but I want to view them all on one page if possible.

Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
For a very easy to grasp drag n drop tool for building such an interface check out node red.. its a visual drag n drop development tool with 'nodes' set up to interact with IOT server sites and Mqtt messages on the one side and can present the information gathered in a phone style gui @ a web address it hosts.chris246810 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 12:20 pmThanks.

Fil... You know far too much
Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
I did look at node red a while back but couldn't quite get my head around how it works
My brewpi and brewpiless were put together by following step by step instructions with just a bit of Google troubleshooting.
Couldn't find any such instructions for node red.

Re: Multiple fermentation chamber controller
Yes it does that. It has a landing page with all your chambers, with all the emulated LCD displays. You then select a chamber to view/control it.chris246810 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2017 12:20 pmDoes it have like a homepage where all the separate controllers can be viewed on one page or do you have to select which device you want to view.
Works very well on PC, tablet and phone.
