8.5 AAU Kent Goldings Hops - 60 mins
1.25 AAU Kent Goldings Hops - 15 mins
0.25oz Kent Goldings Hops - 5 mins
0.25oz Kent Goldings Hops - 0 mins
Wyeast 1968 (London ESB) or White Labs WLP002 (English Ale) Yeast

I know for a fact that's not the recipe. The recipe has pale, crystal, brown and chocolate malts and uses Fuggles. I know this as I was pretty much given the recipe by the Fullers themselves when I asked. Actually, the Real Ale Almanac recipe is pretty accurate.

OPTIC PALE MALT 4300 gms
CRYSTAL MALT 568 gms
BROWN MALT 683 gms
CHOCOLATE MALT 115 gms
HOPS 90 minute boil
FUGGLES 86 gms
Add 10 gms Fuggles last 15 minutes
Use Wyeast 1968 London ESB yeast.

I can understand your sceptism about BYO recipes as think the "creator" is using what he/she has available locally and that is likely to be different to what we have available over here.DaaB wrote: I think i've said it before, I tend to be sceptical of the BYO stuff.

What Temp for the Mash and how long for ?

Fancy giving this one a go as I've got a Caledonian porter in the secondary at the moment and it would be good for comparison.
Sorry for digging up an old topic, but I used this recipe for my last brew I planned for xmas... since it's been maturing in the corny for 2 weeks I thought I'd have a crafty taster, and it's spot on!!!
It's lovely, in fact I actually think that it is better than the actual Fullers as there is slightly less harsh roasted flavours to it!
Although I've just dry hopped 20grms of Goldings to give it a nice aroma for when it's consumed at crimbo....well if it lasts that long!!
