How do I Bypass this Fridge/Freezer Thermostat?

Post by floydmeddler » Fri May 23, 2014 5:48 pm

Hey folks,

I've just been given a tall fridge/freezer and plan to turn it into a second fermentation chamber. I'd like to bypass the thermostat so that i can bring the temp down to 0.5c when crash cooling. Problem is, I haven't a feckin clue when it comes to this! So... any help would be really appreciated.

Here's the thermostat (I think!) What should I do next?

Am I right in thinking that I need to connect these two terminals? :| :| :| :|

if there the only 2 then yep just link the 2 wires that connect to those terminals and freeze away

Actually... it's difficult to work out what to bypass as it connects to a small circuit board. There are four wires: brown, black, earth and blue. I'm thinking I should connect the black and brown?

Have you tried it turned on max without bypassing it?

Reason I ask is that didn't bypass and still manage to get 1 degree. Even froze a whole family once too....

Edit; not family FV (damn that auto correct)

Blue will be neutral for the light. Join brown and black

OK. Successfully bypassed. This is actually a fridge/freezer and even with the stat bypassed, it wouldn't go below 3.5c. So I ripped out the floor section of the freezer compartment to make it all one and that's doing the job wonderfully. :-)

Thanks for the help lads.
