End of July been ... any news on this? Just seen these when looking around, and they certainly sound good... Anyone tried one of these versus the festival kits? Which'd you prefer?

Re: First Time Wherry ---- Advice please.

I've brewed the wherry twice so far, both times, the OG was 1.045 and the FG was 1.012, giving approx 4.3% abv. Both times it brewed short to 21l...

Re: Has anyone ever just continued with kits?

Personally, I can't see myself ever becoming an ag brewer, unfortunately. I'd love to be able to, but as it is, I only just get enough time to brew kits. So, yo be ag I think I'd need to go part time at work! Add to that the fact that missus already moans about me making kits, and I think unfortunat...

I'm guessing that there will likely still be enough yeast in the beer to eat through any priming sugar... Unless, instead of just closing by using a dining agent, you actually killed off the yeast, which I would doubt...

Re: Diastatic LME question for kit adaptation

Just a quick update to this thread... In the end,I went for a dme combo for this recipe... Decided would keep the dms fit when I'm a little more adventurous (and missus not around :p). So, brewed this almost a month ago. Just finished 2 weeks in warmth, and gave it a taste. Gotta say, was really qui...

Re: Winter Warmer

I was gonna toucan the Geordie winter warmer kit myself, but someone I asked about it reminded me that it would then have double the amount of spice/hops you'd want. So, I ended up using 1 can, 1kg dme and 500g sugar, 600g golden syrup. taste from sample wasn't great, but not bad. Ended up about 6%....

Re: Coopers European larger

Just bottled one of these. Brewed it to the instructions, with 1kg be2, used the supplied yeast. Left it out in the garage cool, between 11-14'c for just over 2 weeks. OG was 1.042. After 2 weeks, brought it up to 18'c for a few days, then 19'c for a couple more days. Came to bottling, and wow, how ...

Re: Cheap Wherry at Tesco.

I went to my local Tesco who do homebrew last night, and it was full price there. Got 4 kits left to do anyway between Tescos last offer and wilkinson, so will be ok I suppose :)

S30 canister valve gas escaped?!

Hi. I have a s30 canister that I bought a few months back, and haven't really needed to use that often. Have probably used it abut 20-30 times max (at a high end guesstimate). Last time I used it (about 2-3 weeks ago now), worked fine, and just put it back afterwards (store it in the garage next to ...

Re: Coopers English Bitter mini mash

Got quite impatient with this, and fancied a different tipple to try. Now, I knew this had only been bottled at the weekend just gone, could do with longer conditioning and carbonating, but you know how it is when you get those urges. Plus, it was quite cloudy to begin with, and I could see in the s...

Pressure barrels are no good for hi pressure beers like lagers etc. they cannot hold the pressure required. For Alex and bitters they are fine, but for lagers, you would be better off bottling, or going for a cornie...
