Re: Starsan Discontinued ?
Hello Jim. "Panic over." Not fully over. We may have a good substitute available to us, but what was the unacceptable ingredient ? How does it affect us physically ? More importantly, will it see us off before our poor battered livers give out ? I have been going around the internet looking for any ...

Starsan Discontinued ?
I have just read an advertising email from a UK home Brewing Shop. It tells me that Starsan has been discontinued in Europe due to problems with some of the ingredients. The email then goes on to recommend an alternative that they are now stocking. Does any one know what the problems are supposed to...

BREXIT and HOP PRICES
I was wondering if it is worth stock piling a load of our favourite European hops that we use for home brewing, before we leave the EEC. The cost can only go up, I doubt that they will go down. Will they still be allowed to trade in the future with the naughty British, or turn their backs on us and ...

Buyer beware. Suspect shop reviews.
Not sure if this is one for The Tap Room or Equipment. I recently purchased some gear from one of the well known dealers that is frequently mentioned on these forums. When prompted I filled in reviews for some of the equipment that I had purchased. My reviews were not derogatory of the dealer or the...

Re: new hlt build - finally completed
I have just found this topic and was wondering about the siting of the electronic temperature controller. There does not appear to be any ventilation in the walls of the base of the boiler. Did you have any troubles with the electronic temperature controller overheating ? I have lost the instruction...

Re: Water temperature
Me again.
I have taken up Blackaddlers suggestion and made a copy.
I am very much a dimwit when it comes to computery things but managed it OK.
I even knocked off my internet connection to check it works off line.
Many Thanks Chaps.

Re: Water temperature
Interesting post from vacant and his thermopot. Just finished fitting out my thermopot at the weekend and was going to try a mash in it for the first time today. Unfortunately Jimsbeerkit site was down for some time today and I couldn't get access to the strike temp calculator. I have put the inaugu...

Re: Mini Lathe
You will never regret buying a lathe. I was fortunate enough to be able to get a Myford about thirty five years ago. I have made allsorts on it from small clock gears to 16 inch wooden porthole surrounds, all using homemade accessories built on the lathe itself. My best brewing use for it was to knu...

Re: Christmas brew for 2013. Ideas please.
It might be an original idea in the brewing world but I saw something similar over 40 years ago on something like Pathe News. In those days I was old enough to buy and smoke cigarettes, get married and have kids, I even got my voting papers at the age of 16 due to an error when my dad filled in the ...

Re: Christmas brew for 2013. Ideas please.
30/12/2015 Tried a bottle last night. Not many bottles left now but still drinkable with no bad effects next day. Slight hint of liquorice to it but very nice. As it is 2 years 9 months old now it is possibly getting near to the end of its drinkable life. I will polish it off on New Years Eve and ke...

Re: Bergland help
I know just how you feel. I recently had a Bergland Thermospot delivered from a UK supplier, well known on this site. It had a split and dents in the inside wall, also seriously dented outside. After sending a couple of snaps in an email of the damage, they happily arranged for a courier to pick up ...

#-o Nothing to do with thermopots. Andy posted at 10:19 pm today Ciderhead posted at 10:26 pm today and I am posting this at 09:53 pm today, according to my computers clock and two radio controlled clocks. I think Jim forgot to put the clock back. Does anyone know how to tell Jim his website is an h...

Re: Bergland Thermos Pot / Thermopot Maximum Temperature.
Hello Andy. I only found one of a few posts that I had seen. One string of posts did mention putting mild steel plate on the bottom for induction hobs but I will take your word for it that this particular string of posts did not refer to induction hobs. I think I may have waffled on a bit in my orig...

Re: Bergland Thermos Pot / Thermopot Maximum Temperature.
I have found one of the topics I mentioned. There are four pages and some nice pics. of thermos pot boilers. Posted by Matt12398 Friday 19th 2013. Titled.............. Stockpot vs Thermopot Kettle. A quick search of the equipment forum will find it. People that have made stockpot boilers are darkonn...
