Re: SS Brewtech Brewmaster edition heating ideas

Like Brewdog above, I had a temp rise to 23 deg after the fermentation kicked off, rather than the 18 deg I wanted. A warm summer this year so the ambient temp was around 16-17 deg. I have the 17 us gall chronical so the amount of heat generated by the fermentation surprised me a bit after being use...

Re: SS Brewtech Chronical leg extensions- any good?

I may have to look for aluminium sealing/crush washers. Cheers for the info.

Re: engine hoist for large grain biab

I brew outside the back of the garage on concrete slab paving. Never had an issue with the ladder slipping. The main concern is making sure I have enough clearance to get the out of the pot. As long as I do that it hasn't been a problem. The last beer I made at the weekend had a 19kg grain bill and ...

Re: engine hoist for large grain biab

Not sure that a 48ltr igloo is going to be big enough if you are looking to use a 200ltr kettle. I have a 100ltr kettle and use an aluminium ladder lent up against the house wall and a cheap set of pulleys to hoist my grain bag from the kettle. I then then drop the bag into a large trug before re-su...

Re: SS Brewtech Brewmaster edition heating ideas

I have used two 20W heating mats that are designed for heating reptile tanks or seed germination trays. I found that they wrapped around the cone of the fermenter underneath the neoprene jacket quite nicely with the power cords coming out of the bottom of the cone. I have them connected to an inkbir...

Re: How to batch prime a SS Chronical

Thanks for the response. I guess I was hoping to just bottle straight from the fermenter after dumping the yeast. I went with my usual bottling bucket approach for the bottles and separately primed the king keg and mini kegs.

How to batch prime a SS Chronical

I recently bought a 1/2bbl chronical fermenter. Previously in my plastic fermenting buckets I have always batch primed before bottling. I was wondering how I might go about batch priming using the chronical. I would rather not transfer into a bucket to add the priming sugar if I can help it. What do...

Re: SS Brewtech Chronical leg extensions- any good?

I have recently purchased a 1/2 BBL Chronical and I got the leg extensions to go with it. I was little disappointed, as I think the extensions should fit more squarely than they do and the the legs are not as straight as I think they should be considering the cost. I don't have the SS shelf. Despite...

Re: Adapting a kit with hops for the first time

The following thread details my APA experience.

Hop pellets drop out quite nicely and I would recommend batch priming.

Re: Coopers APA - hop additions?

I have been experimenting with adding some aroma hops to a Coopers APA and I'm looking for some comment/advice on what I have tried so far. Brew 1 Kit + 1.5kg LLME + 0.5kg dextrose Hops - Hallertauer Hersbrucker pellets 33g Kettle of boiling water used to rinse out cans - 10g boiled for 15mins rest...

I tried the Titanic Cappuchino Stout the other weekend and was blown away by the extraordinary flavours. I too would be very interested to get an idea of how they managed to do it.

Re: Top 10 kit brewing tweaks?

I followed Ditch's example and use a paint stirrer fixed to a drill mix the wort. Really gets the air in and is kinda fun.

Also

Adding half a Camden tablet to the liquor does seem make a major improvement to tap water.

Cleaning Agents - Oxy (insert brand)

A lot of threads discuss the use of active oxygen cleansers. Are these a direct replacement for products such as star san, i.e no rinse, or they similar to bleach/chlorine based products and need rinsing afterwards?

Some guidance on how to use this stuff on bottles etc would be very helpful.
