Re: Beer gun and maxi
A lot of people use beer guns with a good degree of success. As Rhodesy says, there can be an element of trial an error about it. One of the biggest problems is foaming, which can be lessened by cooling the bottles as mentioned by others here, and by reducing the pressure in the keg as low as you ca...

Do you have any pics of yours? Luckily I managed to get the fall from there on the drains.
Luckily my mate gave me an air con unit that his work didn't need anymore.

Re: Hello from Bournemouth
Fabulous job there - you must be really chuffed. After an ultimatum from the missus to get all of my gear out of the sitting room, I got her to agree to me building a brew shed. I positioned it as far away as I could whilst still being able to get a gravity drain run in, which means it's only a few ...

Re: Can I water it down?
For your next brew you could make it a particularly low gravity version (possibly adding water to the boil to get the OG where you want it to be) and then blend with your current brew. You can then fanny around with the proportions to get all manner of variations - if you know the proportions used y...

Re: Force carb emergency!
Joe, Sorry - I only just realised that you posted your last response. I'm not very disciplined in my carbonation regime. It usually involves giving a squirt of gas up to about 40psi every now and then over the course of the conditioning period (kegs not refrigerated) and then the 5m length!of 3/16" ...

Re: Force carb emergency!
I use party taps with a 5m length of 3/16" beer line for dispensing straight from (mostly unrefrigerated) kegs, and these do a great job of keeping the froth under control. Takes a while to pour, though.

Re: THE GRAINFATHER ?
If space is s problem, and you're particularly flush, then the Brewha BIAC is also worth looking at. It's a massive leap from my old BIAB system.

Re: Dry hops for coopers cerveza
I usually dry hop kits with pellet hops (for example 25g or so of Citra pellets in a 40 pint Wherry kit). I chuck them in loose once FG is reached, leave it there for 5 days, and the hop matter settles at the bottom. After kegging using isinglass finings I get no problems with haze.

Re: storing clean bottles
I clean mine thoroughly, then then wrap some aluminium foil around the top to stop anything getting in, and then store in those big strong bags you get in ASDA etc for about 40p - you can get loads in. They're then ready for the StarSan treatment when required.

Re: New Limited Edition Festival Kit - Summer Glory
If would have been good to hear how this turned out from anyone who has tried out this kit. There doesn't appear to be much information out on it. I bought a couple of boxes of this kit, as I was interested in the elderflower aspect. Having recently made a double batch of their Golden Stag, and foun...

Re: New American style kits
Glad it's come out good. Looking forward to mine - just stuck the hops in for 2 - 3 days now that the FG seems to have stabilised at 1007 (target in instructions is 1008, so happy with that). The instructions also suggest 20 - 24*c as the target temperature for optimum fermentation so maybe you had...

Re: New American style kits
Having spent 30 days fannying around in the fermenter, I finally kegged my APA two days ago. I use a fermentation fridge and set it to 18.5c. After 2 weeks the SG was 1.018 and I needed to make way for my next brew, so took this one out. The temperature outside my fridge was probably around 16c whic...

Re: New American style kits
This APA kit has been a really slow burner through the fermentation period. After 25 days the SG was steady at 1.012 over 48 hours, so I removed the krausen and added the dry hops. Now, after 29 days, I have decided to keg it. The FG appears to be 1.011 giving me an ABV of 5.3% (the box says 5.6%), ...

Re: S30 Gas Cylinder to Cornelius Keg Query
I wish to thank everyone, especially Derek, for their contribution to this topic. In the end I have decided to buy a couple of cornelius keg lids with integral S30 valves, and keep a couple of my kegs reserved for being able to don these lids for when I want to take them out and about without the ne...

I'll definitely keep the 3rd keg out of the way, with a 'do not disturb' sign on it. Good job I did a double batch.Maysie wrote:I would suggest you leave it at least 6 weeks
