Re: I'm just going to do it
All seems fine. It's sitting in the fermenter. Looks as if I got 8-9l out of it. once I pulled the grain bag out I used warm water to "sparge it into a bucket and used it to top up. I have 50g Cascade so I did 15g @60 15g @0 remembering i don't have anything to cool it with and possibly 20g dry hop ...

I'm just going to do it
I haven't had much luck lately, my first ever brewpot was hit by hail and my second one was out in the garage after a brew day, had too many after brew drinks and drove my car right into everything. Next excuse was I replaced nothing as the Mrs was offered jobs in either the UAE or Devon and I didn'...

Re: Kits vs mashing
I started on kits, then went to extract and now I was then doing small batches of 8l AG.
My dad is keen on a Muntons kit and he lives close by so I am gooing back to Kits for a while.
I like the ease of use for kits, but I like how AG I can make a million different styles of beer.

Re: How much better are the Muntons two can kits
Hahaha, Howzit Wales. I got a 30l pot that I did a couple BIAB with. Moved house onto a small holding in the middle of nowhere so haven't had the time for mashing and boiling so done a Ditches Stout and some Guava wine with home grown Guava's. Now that we have a tractor (not on to brew with) chores ...

How much better are the Muntons two can kits
Having only really had access to Coopers kits I now see an online shop does these double can Muntons at double the price. With every brew I do a CPP (Cost Per Pint) out of habit. If it tastes good and is affordable, I do it again.
How much better is the quality of a two can kit?

guava wine
I recently raided the folks orchard and decided to make wine.
1kg Guavas whole
1kg white sugar
4l of water
Lager yeast ( all I had)
We busy with fermentation and it smells great!
My plan is to put one brew into an IPA FV to see what happens.
Real easy recipe.
Last year it went down a treat!

Re: Have to love SWMBO
Thanks Wales! Kits are just too expensive in SA. One can, no additions can cost the same as a BIAB brew. Keen to also start playing (not to the extent of a tractor cock ale)

Have to love SWMBO
I've been in hiding for a while, brew equipment was smashed in a storm last year and hating doing 5l batches. Was looking at emigrating so didn't replace the equipment as I thought it would be easier to buy once we had moved. Long story short, SWMBO is getting promoted Jan next year (She has materni...

Re: Tractor Stout.......
He could mash his grains in the engine housing and use the pto shaft to grind them.
They cooked a crayfish in a Lamborghini engine in South Africa a couple years back on a TV show called top billing a couple years ago.

Re: Tractor Stout.......
I honestly thought Wales had come up with another crazy recipe using a tractor spare or something. Wouldn't put it past him after his cock ale.
