Re: Storing fermented beer in plastic containers

Possibly the best variation of the is "No Chill" (look it up) I have found it works very well for anything but the most hop forward beers and there are easy ways you can use it for them.

Re: Storing fermented beer in plastic containers

Is this beer carbonated? If so there is a problem with pressure build up if not it should work.

Plastic Barrel Users? Vol's of Co2

Now I know there is a limit to how highly carbonated a beer can be if will be stored/dispensed from a PB. For instance Lagers are usually considered too fizzy for a PB. Does anybody know exactly (ok near enough) how many volumes a beer can be carbonated to and still be stored in a PB? Atb. Aamcle

Mine is working as I type although it's not reporting temperature but I think that I'm to fault for that.

Re: Grainfather pump

Try 1/2 a dish washer tablet. I have been using dish washer detergent for some time it works well and as far as I can tell does not foam. Some people including myself worry that head retention will be effected so I rinse well after cleaning. This includes flushing water backwards through the pipe wo...

Re: ISpindel Digital Hydromenter

I'm tempted by CraftBeerPi I've loaded it and checked that it works on my Pi but that's all.

I have a GF so I don't need it for the hotend and I use a STD to control the fridge as a result there would not be a lot of benefit except that I would have some fun building it.

Re: ISpindel Digital Hydromenter

Not to panic, what you want to see is the graph of SG change against time. While it may under lab conditions be possible to calibrate it to achieve the same accuracy as a glass thermometer I wouldn't hold my breath trying at home and then using it in a fermenter with a head of yeast foam. Even so ca...

Re: Conical Recommendations

I seem to have recovered from "shiny feaver" but I seem to be developing conical envy..... Oh well. Like many members here I use a fridge as a fermentation chamber and I don't know if I could fit canonical in it. So I have been thinking about DIY system and insulated box type chambers. I've seen som...

Re: Lager fermentation, when to rack?

Just ignore the nonsense you find on the net and keep it simple. If you have used the right amount of yeast (2*the amount for ale) ferment of 7-10 days at 12°C then ramp up to 17-18°C over the next 7 days. Check the SG cold crash at 5°C for a few days and transfer to what ever your going to lager in...

Re: Hambledon Bard refill S30 discontinued

There is another option, fit a Corny Gas Post (evilbay/aliexpress) and use a proper cylinder and regulator.

It will cost more to set up but if your only popping a bit of gas into a pressure barrel a cylinder is likey to last for many years.
